Summer Workshop Descriptions

W1: Dance Kaleidoscope I (Ages 7-9)
W2: Dance Kaleidoscope II (Ages 10-12)

June 23-July 2 (1 1/2 weeks M - F) 8:30 am- 4:30 pm
Directed by our wonderful teacher, Ms. Candy Braden these concurrent 8 day workshops are for boys and girls who have had at least 1 year of dance training (DK I) and 2 years of dance training (DK II). Daily classes include voice and dance for musical theater plus modern, jazz, and character dance. Children participate in the ABC Quilt Project and enjoy many age-appropriate sewing and craft activities. These workshops provide a wonderful opportunity for young artists to explore different ways of expression, creativity, learn team building skills and practice group interaction. Additional information is sent to students upon registration. There will be a presentation for parents at the end of the session.
Tuition: $760 (half due upon registration, remainder due by June 1)

W3: Dance Study Workshop I/II
Junior Division I and II level dancers (Ages 8-11)

Aug. 4-15 (2 weeks M-F) 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
This workshop for current Junior Division I and II students (dancers who have had 2 or 3 years of ballet training) will feature a daily ballet technique class; character, modern and jazz dance classes. Students will learn adapted choreography from traditional story ballets. Simple headpieces or other accessories will be made and the dancers will also study differing forms of costuming. Registration can be for 2 weeks or 1, however only students who participate in the full 2 week program will be eligible to perform during the presentation for parents on the final afternoon. Visiting students should contact Ms Carattini, School Director for placement information.
Tuition: $720 (half due upon registration, remainder due by June 1st)

W4: Dance Study Workshop III
Junior Division III level dancers (Ages 10-13)

Aug. 4 -15 (2 weeks M-F) 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
This two-week intensive workshop is designed for current Junior Division III students (or visiting dancers who have had at least 4 years of ballet training). Curriculum includes classical ballet, modern dance, character and jazz classes. Ageappropriate conditioning exercises will be taught to enhance technique and core strength. Dancers will also have lessons in ballet history, vocabulary, theory and video study. Classical repertoire and original choreography will be adapted to students' level and a presentation for parents will be given on the final afternoon. Visiting students should contact Ms Carattini, School Director, for audition information.

W5: Beginning Pointe Intensive Workshop
Junior Division IV (Ages 12-14)

Aug. 4 - 22 (3 weeks M-F) 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
The curriculum for this three-week intensive workshop for current Junior Division IV (or visiting dancers who have had at least 4 years of ballet training) includes classical ballet, modern dance, character and jazz classes. The preparation for Pointe work will be the main emphasis for this workshop. Students who meet the requirements at an assessment during the first week, will begin pointe work and will be guided through the fitting and care of pointe shoes Age-appropriate conditioning exercises will be taught to enhance technique and improve foot and core strength. Dancers will also have lessons in ballet history, vocabulary, theory and video study. Attention to each students individual needs is an important part of this workshop so students are well prepared to begin the new school year. Classical repertoire and existing choreography will be adapted to students' level and a presentation for parents will be given on the final afternoon. W6 Intensive Ballet Workshop (IBW)
For current JD V - CD II (Ages 12-18)

Aug 4-Aug 29 (4 weeks, M-F) 10:00 am-4:30 pm daily
The IBW provides serious intermediate and advanced ballet students with a rigorous intensive summer training program that prepares them for advancement in the new school year. Female students must be on pointe. This pre-professional curriculum offers daily classical ballet technique and pointe. Other classes include Pilates, modern dance, pas de deux, repertoire, and jazz. Technique focus classes with video analysis are also part of the program along with private lessons and seminars on anatomy, injury prevention, theory, ballet history and vocabulary. More information and a sample schedule maybe found in the separate IBW brochure. Visiting students should contact Ms Carattini, School Director, for audition information.
Tuition: $960 (half due upon registration, remainder due by June 1st)

Extended Day Hours for IBW and JD Workshops Only

For programs beginning at 10:00 AM, we will provide the option for 8:30-10:00 AM extended hours. This option is available for an additional $50/week. If necessary, we will also permit students to remain after the program with a signed permission form and a designated time for pick - up. While we do have adults at the front desk during this time, they are not responsible for the dancers during this time. Dancers who are waiting to be picked up should wait quietly in the green room and have reading materials or other quiet activities. $50 per week.
